Parent Compact

In partnership, the Troy Cronin Elementary School Community, consisting of students, parents, and staff agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and social emotional learning.  Included are the ways in which the students, parents, and school will build and develop a partnership that will help Cronin students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), show growth and achievement to meet the high standards set by the State of Illinois. 

Troy Cronin Elementary School Will:

• Provide a safe, positive, and collaborative learning environment.
• Provide parents with reasonable access to staff.  Specifically, for consultations with parents as follows: by phone, email or individual conferences.
• Provide opportunities for parents to participate in decisions about the education of their child.
• Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables children to show individual growth and meet the state’s student academic achievement standards.
• Provide tools and strategies to support effective social-emotional learning.
• Provide parents with regular communication on their children’s progress through formative and summative assessments.
• Provide ongoing opportunities to educate families about academic interventions and support towards learning goals.

As a Parent and Family I (We) Will:

• Check with my child daily for information sent home from school, read it and respond, if necessary.
• Talk to my child’s teacher/school social worker about any concerns that may be impacting your child’s learning or well being.
• Ensure my child’s basic needs are met: personal hygiene, sleep, consistent nutrition (or reach out to school/agencies to fulfill basic needs if family needs assistance with this).
• Talk to my child about what they are learning in school.
• Partner with the school in making decisions relating to my child’s education and social emotional well being.
• Make sure my child is on time and prepared for school.
• Ensure that my child understands how to use technology and social media responsibly and appropriately.

As a student, I share the responsibility to improve my academic achievement and growth.  I will:

• Treat others how I want to be treated.
• Be a respectful, responsible, safe and kind learner.
• Contribute as a safe and positive member of my classroom, school, and community.
• Be brave and speak up if I need something (personal or academic).
• Try my best!
• Complete my classwork/homework and ask for help when I don’t understand.
