Cronin Elementary School Policies & Procedures

It is the parents' responsibility to contact the Cronin office at 815-577-7314 when your child will be absent from school. Preschool parents please call 815-577-7315.  Please call our office between 7:30 am and 8:30 am with your child's name, teacher's name, and the reason for the absence. Our policy states that students who have not been called in by an adult will have an unexcused absence on their record.

All students who leave the school early or are picked up from school are required to be signed out in the office by an adult.  Please be prepared to show your photo ID. Unless it is an emergency, we must have a note from the parent at the start of the school day. If your child is to be picked up at the end of the school day, he/she can be signed out as a ‘car rider’.  If your child is to be picked up early, he/she will need to be signed out in the office.

Parents of Pre-School, Kindergarten, and New Students, please remember we need proof of immunizations and a recent physical on file before the first day of school. Students will be excluded from school without these. Please refer to page 23 of the Parent/Student Handbook for additional information.

Morning, Mid-Day, and Afternoon Drop off or Pick Up

As you know, safety is our top priority! We want to ensure that the parking lot is a safe environment for the students as they arrive and leave from school each day. Below you will find a map of the school with four corresponding bullet points for your reference .

Car Rider Arrival Processes

• All cars will enter through the Hope Lutheran Church parking lot. Hope Lutheran is located just east of Cronin school.
• Cars will follow the arrows around Cronin’s south east parking lot where the line will split toward the student drop off zones.

  • Preschool, Kindergarten, and Siblings of Preschool or Kindergarten Students

    • The drop off zone is located outside Door #3 (the small fenced in playground).
    • Student car seats must be located behind the driver seat for curbside arrival and dismissal.
    • As cars reach the student loading zone, students will begin to be unloaded by staff members and escorted into the building. Please do not let students out of the car until the car is stopped in the student loading zone.
    • Proceed to Black Road and turn right. No left turn on Black Road will be permitted. Please yield to busses exiting.

  • Grades One - Four (that do not have preschool or kindergarten siblings)

    • The loading zone is located outside Door # 14 (gym).
    •  Student car seats must be located behind the passenger seat for curbside arrival.
    • As cars reach the student loading zone, students will begin to be unloaded by staff members and monitored as they enter the building. Please do not let students out of the car until the car is stopped in the student loading zone.
    • Proceed to the gated exit on the south west side of the playground. Please yield to busses exiting.

Car Rider Dismissal Processes

• All cars will enter through the Hope Lutheran Church parking lot. Hope Lutheran is located just east of Cronin school, and turn right (west) toward Troy Cronin.
• The guardian will use the QR code provided to check in as they enter the Cronin parking lot.
  • The machine will be placed there each day at approximately 2:45 pm. Please do not arrive before 2:45 pm.
• Cars will follow the arrows around Cronin’s south east parking lot where the line will split toward the student loading zones.

  • Preschool, Kindergarten, and Siblings of Preschool or Kindergarten Students

    • The loading zone is located outside Door #3 (the small fenced in playground).
    • Student car seats must be located behind the driver seat for curbside arrival and dismissal.
    • As cars reach the student loading zone, students will begin to be matched with the guardian.
    • After they are matched, the guardian will secure the student in the car.
    • Proceed to Black Road and turn right. No left turn on Black Road will be permitted. Please yield to busses exiting.

  • Grades One - Four (that do not have preschool or kindergarten siblings)

    • The loading zone is located outside Door # 14 (gym).
    • Student car seats must be located behind the passenger seat for curbside dismissal.
    • As cars reach the student loading zone, students will begin to be matched with the guardian.
    • After they are matched, the guardian will secure the student in the car.
    • Proceed to the gated exit on the south west side of the playground. Please yield to busses exiting.

Bus Processes

• Cars are not allowed to enter through the west Cronin entrance.
• Large school buses will enter through the west Cronin entrance and pick up / drop off along the west side of the building at Door #17. Large buses will exit through Center Street.
• Small school buses will enter through the west Cronin entrance and pick up / drop off along the front of the building at Door #2. Small buses will exit through Black Road and turn right.

We have a limited number of parking spaces and we need your cooperation and patience with other drivers to keep our students safe at arrival and dismissal times. Please remember that handicapped parking spots are reserved for families that have permission from the state to park in handicapped spots. Thank you for your cooperation!

 

Legend / Key:

 

1. All cars will enter through the Hope Lutheran Church parking lot and proceed south following the painted arrows toward the Student Loading Zone.
2. The preschool, kindergarten, and siblings of preschool or kindergarten students loading zone is located at Door #3, the east entrance of Cronin Elementary School. Students will be loaded and unloaded along the sidewalk with the yellow curb. Cars will exit eastbound on to Black Road. (Right Turn Only)
3. The grades one - four (that do not have preschool or kindergarten siblings) student loading zone is located at Door #14, the back of the building. Students will be loaded along the south side of the building. Cars will exit west through the gated exit.
4. Large school buses will pick-up and drop-off students on the west side of Cronin Elementary School and exit through the Center Street Exit.
5. Small school bus routes will pick-up and drop-off students on the north side of Cronin Elementary School and exit eastbound on to Black Road. (Right Turn Only)
